Fit Confidence

Find your fit. Then make them yours.

A good-fitting cowboy boot feels secure, leaves room for your toes, and gets more comfortable as the leather softens. Here’s how to choose a size and check the fit when your Chisos arrive.

Choose your size

Start with your size

Your usual size in leather footwear is a starting point. If you regularly wear two sizes, start with the larger one. Foot width and volume matter too; a measurement alone cannot promise a fit.

Choose your width

For men’s boots, D is standard width and EE is wide. If your foot is wide, consider EE where offered. Choose length and width for your foot, not to work around a sold-out size.

High arch or high instep?

You may need an extra half size. Tell us where your current footwear feels tight so we can help you compare size and width before ordering.

Wide foot, but no EE in your style?

A half size up may give more room, but it also changes length. Talk with us before sizing up just for width.

Different-sized feet or between styles?

Check both feet. Tell us your usual leather-shoe size, the Chisos style you’re considering, and which foot needs more room. We’ll help you work through the options.

Shopping across men’s and women’s styles?

The size difference is roughly 1.5–2 sizes. A men’s 7 is about a women’s 8.5–9 in length. Width and volume also differ, so contact us before treating this as an exact conversion.

Try them on at home

Wear the socks you plan to wear with your boots. Try both boots on clean carpet, then walk a little and check these three things.

Snug across the instep

Snug across the instep

The top and widest part of your foot should feel held, without painful pressure or pinching.

Room for your toes

Room for your toes

Your toes should move comfortably. Cramped toes are a reason to reassess the size or width.

A little heel slip

A little heel slip

Up to about ½ inch of heel lift can be normal at first. If your foot slides around or the slip feels excessive, ask us to check the fit.

Leather softens with wear. Do not count on break-in to fix pain, cramped toes, or a boot that is the wrong size.
