How to find
your boot size
Start with the size you wear. Check three things when they arrive. Exchange free if they’re not right.

Pick your size
Start with your Brannock size
Chisos boots match the size recommendations of a Brannock device. Most shoe stores have such a device available for your use. If not, your usual size in leather footwear is a good starting point.
Choose your width
D is our standard width, and most Chisos customers find it works great. EE is offered on select styles: same length, just wider.

Special cases
Wide foot, but no EE in your style?
A half size up in D width gives you more room and works for many men. Each half size is only 4mm longer.
High arch or high instep?
Order a half size up. That adds only about 4mm of length but noticeably more room over the top of your foot, which is where a high instep needs it.
Different-sized feet?
Fit the larger foot. Order the size that works for your bigger foot, then use a thicker sock or a thin insole on the other side.
Shopping across men’s and ladies’ styles?
The difference is about 1.5–2 sizes. A men’s 7 is roughly a ladies’ 8.5 in length. The ladies' boots are a narrow B width as well.
Does boot toe shape change my size?
Usually, no. Toe shape changes the space in front of your toes. Your toes should sit flat, and the ball of your foot should sit at the boot’s widest part. Don’t size down just to fill the tip.

02 · When your boots arrive
Try them on, of course
Step 1
Pull on your new boots!
Wear the socks you plan to wear with your boots, and try both boots on clean carpet so the soles stay unmarked. Some resistance as your foot goes in is normal. Once your heel settles into place, the boot should hold your foot firmly, without pain.
Step 2
Walk a little. Then check three things.
Toes
- Right
- Toes fit comfortably with no pain, especially side to side. They don’t need to reach the very end of the boot.
- Off
- Toes feel curled or painfully cramped side-to-side.
Heel
- Right
- Up to about ½ inch of lift is normal. It often settles as the boot breaks in, but not always.
- Off
- Your whole foot slides around, or the slip feels excessive.
Snug, not Tight
Leather gives as you wear the boots, so a firm fit is the right start. But the break-in won’t fix pain that comes from it being too tight. The boot should be snug and also comfortable.
